That title is a mouthful.
Here's the deal. Karen and I have been talking for quite some time about how we're missing Braden's growing up years in terms of video. I take tons of pictures, but we haven't had a functional video camera for quite some time. We haven't wanted to throw down several hundred dollars for a new one. Then my friend Kyle told me about Flip Video. These are great. Affordable, and very small (smaller than an iphone). Of course, it's not high quality...but it's good enough for what we were looking for. We wanted to at least capture Braden's voice and all his unique things of growing up. It will do the job. We picked one up. So now you can expect videos from me. I hope.
I had fun putting together the video below. It is from Braden's last day of swim class. We put him in a two week class this year, and he had a blast. I took a bunch of short shots with the FlipVideo, and then had fun editing it in iMovie. In addition to Karen and Braden, you'll see Louise and Nate Baston in the video...they are Braden's biological grandmother and uncle. So cool to have them in our lives.
My last thing to figure out is whether to use Youtube or Vimeo for my videos. I'm leaning towards Vimeo. I'm not a guy who is good at understanding specs and all. But if I understand it correctly, Youtube allows you to have a total of 1 gig of space. Vimeo gives you 500mb...per week! The quality also seems better on Vimeo, but I have to admit I didn't bother trying to look up any specs on the quality. I've posted both links below, feel free to let me know your opinion in the comments. Basically, I'm trying to get the process dialed in for creating and posting videos. This one, obviously, is going to only have appeal to the family...

vimeo seems more clear...am I right? But you're wrong--braden appeals to EVERYBODY! I love how he doesn't stop moving the entire video and his face is full of glee the whole time and then at the end he gives a big YAWN. :D He's an amazing kid!
i know nothing about specs - but aaron's checked it out and he decided on vimeo. here's his site if you want to check it out. www.vimeo.com/sjogren.
